New Close Farm Shop

One of the mainstays of the shop and our box scheme is our range of local and organic fruit and vegetables. Whether you are concerned about pesticide use and its impact on human health and the environment, or about minimising food miles, supporting local producers and eating in season we have something for you.

We aim to give our customers the choice to buy locally, seasonally, and organically and to inform them about the choices that we make and why. Some fruit doesn't grow in this country so it can never be local, but instead we guarantee quality and traceability through organic certification instead.

Other produce is our own or might be from very local suppliers but not organic - we believe that you should be able to make an informed decision on what you buy and where it comes from and we go out of our way to help you do that. We feel that you should be able to decide what you buy and why.

You might think that this means our range of stock is restricted?

Well our fruit and veg often includes more than 50 different varieties and we'll always have the basics that you can't do without, as well as an unusual or heritage variety that perhaps you won't have seen before.

Our prices are competitive and often cheaper than non-organic produce in some of the supermarkets - remember that by buying from us you can help support growers and develop and revitalise local producers. You may see 'Local Produce' advertised in many places now; ask about its providence as 'local' doesn't mean buying it from the local wholesaler!

If you're a quality local producer looking for an outlet, even if you only have a small crop or the occasional surplus, we'd love to hear from you. If you're thinking about growing a new crop and are worried about being able to sell it - perhaps we can help...

We are open...

Thursday and Friday from 9.00 am until 6.30 pm and Saturday from 9.00 am until 2.30 pm
